The POWER Institute was launched in the summer of 2017 by Jonathan Peck and Tom Tresser as a project of the CivicLab.
The CivicLab is a Black-led Chicago based tax-exempt 501 c 3 organization dedicated to innovation, education and collaboration for civic engagement and social justice. It was founded in 2013 by Benjamin Sugar and Tom Tresser on the first floor of an old fire house in Chicago's West Loop. For two years it was America's only co-working/maker space dedicated to democracy and social change.
The goal of the POWER Institute is to train people to be social justice champions to win victories for equity and justice. Make an investment in democracy today -> please contribute!
The CivicLab logo was designed by Virginia Duran and Benjamin Sugar. The POWER Institute logo was designed by Virginia Duran.
